Dear Military Vehicle Enthusiasts: February 1, 2018
We had a great attendance for our annual banquet and directors meeting. We already have a very full calendar.
- · April 13 – 15: Knob Creek – For anyone wishing to attend the big machine gun event, the club will sponsor fuel and hotel rooms
- · May 10 and 12: Aberdeen – Military Flee Market (This is the place to buy your tires)
- · May 18-19: Finley Ohio Military Display and Flee Market – All the guys from Canada bring their tanks down for this one. If you are into armor, do not miss it.
- · May 28: Memorial Day – Jeeps and Trucks Display at VFW Post 10657
- · June 9: Big Shoot at Stan’s – We are going to rebuild the rifle range pavilion and make a few more improvements on the facility that Stan and Mary so graciously allow us to use.
- · June 14-16: MVPA National Convention in Louisville, Kentucky – Again, members who wish to attend this event, the club will supply fuel and hotel room for those who want to carpool
- · July 1-5: Vietnam Helicopter Pilots Association Convention in Atlanta, Georgia
- · August 30 – September 3: Graves Mountain Trail ride – Bring your best vehicle and pit it against the best mountains on the planet - Beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains.
- · September 22: Field Day of the Past – A little change, we are going to have a light vehicle drive in Saturday morning and leave Saturday afternoon.
- · September ?: Glen Allen Day (Date to be determined)
- · November 10: Trucks and Tanks at VFW Post 10657 - Our annual event! We need ALL members for this big one.
I am not going to list all the parades, but we will be attending many of them including Powhatan, Beaverdam, Ashland, Mechanicsville, Charles City, and Richmond. Hopefully, we will be invited to the Heroes Run in Alexandria again.
Currently the M-20 is at Dabney’s house and he has performed major annual maintenance including exhaust system repairs and carburetor adjustments. I want to thank Rob White and Dabney for taking such good care of our irreplaceable M-20. I also want to thank Barry Conwell for doing major site preparation both at Stan’s and the VFW Post.
